The Ezekiel Promise

Wedding Day

If you remember this day, you remember how shockingly cold it was on December 8, 2014. We hadn’t prepared for this cold because it was absolutely perfect 76 degree weather just the day before. I tried so hard to not let it ruin my day, but most people left early, which meant tons of food leftover, and no one even stepped foot in the courtyard overlooking the water in St. Augustine that we had so beautifully decorated. But in the midst of it all, it truly felt like a fairy tale, and I was a Spanish princess.

So many emotions, so many hopes and dreams. I guess I just thought since I had waited 36 years and was a strong woman of God, that marriage would be easier for me than most. SMH… I was SO mistaken. The last 3 years have been the hardest of my life for many reasons; my habits, my expectations, my desires, my experiences, my examples… all set me up for a rude awakening.

My point is that often, when we feel prepared for something, we aren’t. We are far from it. We realize that we have so much to learn and so many ways to grow. And yet God is so gracious, that He loves us enough to never leave us where we are. You see, in order to grow, we must be pruned. In order to address a wound, it must be exposed, cleaned, and rehabilitated. So much pain, but for a purpose.

In the coming year, I will finally be ready to document my story in hopes that other women may be liberated. In hopes they might be pruned and healed. As I stand today, my story has not yet been redeemed, but through daily surrender, lots of prayer and intentional work, I see the valley of bones begin to rise.

I can’t wait to share my story with you. Stay tuned for more snapshots of my journey.
